LAW CHANGES FOR 2019/2020
IMPORTANT!

The IFAB made several changes to the Laws of the Game that will be effective for the Fall 2019 season and pre-Fall tournaments.  Many of the changes affect restarts like goal kicks, free kicks, and dropped balls.  As a result, it is important to review and understand the changes so you can implement the changes in your games as soon as the changes become effective in the leagues and tournaments that you referee.  Imagine the chaos for players and coaches when some referees implement the changes and some referees do not implement the changes.

The Law changes were officially effective on June 1, 2019.  You should have seen the changes implemented during the Women’s World Cup.  A number of changes to the Laws of the Game for 2019/20 were approved which follow the principal aims of the ‘play fair!’ strategy: improving player behavior and increasing respect, increasing playing time, and making the game fairer and attractive.
